Story 6
I remember working at a retail store, doing in-store promotions, waitressing at a nightclub (and the list goes on) I remember people pointing and laughing at me"she's so everywhere, queen of promos, liker of things and the like", eating noodles and sharing bread and soup with my best friend. At some point I worked so hard my studies suffered.
I remember all these things (amongst others) in the name of getting by, paying rent and struggling to buy even second hand textbooks just to get my Wits degrees.
I remember how hard it was to hear NAFSAS tell me that they can only pay for fees (a gov loan I might add), what about my rent and things, shall I sleep in the library perhaps?...
Until you have walked in a man's shoes you cannot begin to relate or judge, only the blissful ignorance of privilege doesn't understand why people are protesting. The students from Botswana and Zim were well taken care of, Blade where are you?? Will the real Blade please stand up and answer us this "why bother telling Matriculants to pass well, when you have not paved a way for when they do??", so many smart kids, so little money for education, NAFSAS is not the only answer, it's not enough your people are still struggling, Blade this is your people, will the real Blade Nzimande please stand up and help your people...
